Good to great in ‘08

Earlier this year, I set a goal for myself to move from good to great in ’08 (at 48). Throughout the year, as I needed to decide whether or not to pursue something, I would ask myself: Will this help to move me from good to great? If not, I let it go.

So why am I sharing this with you? Because you, my reader, motivate me to WANT greatness. My mission is to help free you of the clutter in your life – whether it’s physical or emotional. And the better I get at what I do, the more I can help you.

Give this a try. Think about what you really want in your life.
Dream big! One of the realizations that came to me this year is that I deserve to have what I want. You, too, deserve to have whatever it is you want.

Start by deciding what you want and writing it down. Remember… it can be anything because you deserve it! But it doesn’t have to be material things. For example, I could care less about what kind of car I’ll be driving five years from now. But I do want more time to do fun stuff with my husband, friends and family.

Something magical happens when you become crystal clear about what you want and decide to go for it. The change that takes place in your mind begins to take shape in your life. And suddenly, it becomes much easier to let go of all the junk.

Hey, did you know? You can shred seven pounds of paper for $5 at PostNet stores.

Thinking ahead to the holidays If I told you I have a really easy way for you to get your holiday cards out this year, would you be interested?

Two years ago, I discovered SendOutCards, an online service that allows you to send real paper greeting cards from your own computer, with your own handwriting and signature even.

You choose the card you want to send, or create a card using your own photo. Then personalize it with your message and click SEND. SendOutCards does all the printing, stuffing, licking, stamping, addressing and mailing – all for about $1 per card!

Talk about simple. Try it and you’ll see what I mean. Send a card for free at http://www.sendoutcards.com/15432

Survey Results: Storing shoes Last month I asked: How do you store your shoes? As promised, here are the results of that survey. . .

28% said: Shoeboxes 24% said: Shoerack 18% said: Hanging shoe bag 16% said: Shoe cubbies 11% said: Other (please specify) 3% said: Basket

In case you’re wondering, “Other” responses included closet floor, wire shelves, bins, and custom built shoe shelves.

I must say, judging from your comments, most of you seem to have found a storage system that works for you. One reader said he uses shoe bags and he’s in the habit of putting his wallet and glasses in one “pocket” when he comes home. Neat idea!

I’m a clear plastic shoebox person myself. I stack them five high on a shelf. The best boxes I’ve seen are the ones from Shoe Stor. I just checked out their site and discovered that they offer free shipping on orders over $100 and if you order by October 7, you can get a free 5-pack of low boot boxes. Smart Readers Write: It’s all in the family binder

My whole family knows where to look for phone numbers, schedules, information to fill out all the medical/team/school information forms that get sent home. It’s all in a 3-ring binder with plastic protective sheets. This simple solution has worked well in our house and lessened the paper shuffle!
